Lately

Photos taken by daddy. October 2012
Dear Oliver,

You are such a cute boy.  A few things as of late:
  • We had a black cat that was visiting for a while. We thought we might adopt him. He would eat and sleep here and join us on our family walks at night.  Since we hadn't seen him around in a while, I asked you, "Oliver, where's the black cat?" You replied, "At work." So cute.
  • You call the trailer hitch on dad's new truck the truck's "tail."
  • Sometimes you will randomly pat my belly and say "baby in mommy's tummy." I am a little nervous as to how you will adjust when your little brother comes. I think you might be a little jealous but I really hope you will love him too and not feel left out.
  • This was your first Halloween where you were really aware of candy. You loved it. We use your loot as "potty treats" which works out well. (You call them "Elmo treats" because the treats remain in your Elmo bag you used for trick-or-treating.)
  • We celebrated Halloween by going to our ward Trunk or Treat the weekend before. On Halloween night, we went to an event at Pancana Park here in Maricopa, followed by a little bit of trick-or-treating before you fell asleep with a belly full of sugar.
  • You were a lion for Halloween. Daddy bought you the "count" (from Sesame Street) and dinosaur costumes but you didn't want to wear them. Somehow Sandy (your daycare provider) got you to wear this lion costume of hers, so you were a lion.
  • Grandma Louise sent you a package for Halloween and you were so excited to open it.
  • Dad put together his own hayride for you and our friends, the Wilkins. You loved it. This is you before the hayride, getting excited to go.
  • I love your smile here.
  • You love going over to Grandma and Grandpa Schultz's house. If you haven't seen them in a while, you ask about them.
  • You are doing so great at going potty. You haven't had an accident at daycare in two weeks!
  • If you don't have a nap or only have a short nap, you turn into a little grump. Sundays are so hard because church starts at 12:30, which is right at your nap time. We are so excited for church to switch to 9:00 in January. You do love going to nursery though, and seeing your friends Kade and Zarin there.
  • You still love your blankie (pictured above) and call it you "mankie."
  • You love going on bike rides on your little tricycle. We try to go on family walks in the evenings with you on your bike. I love this family time.
At Pacana Park on Halloween night.
Love you buddy. Dad and I were talking the other night about how it's hard to picture our family before you came along. We're so glad you're here!

Love, Mom
