Six Months

Dear Oliver,

At six months old you are all about textures. You love touch and feel books. You scratch the fabric on the couch, the sheets in your crib, the material on your car seat, your blanket, etc.

At your six-month appointment you weighed 15 lbs. 6 1/2 oz., putting you in the 15th percentile for weight. You measured 26" inches, putting you in the 35th percentile for height. Your head is 17 inches. The doctor said that you will probably be walking by 9 months.

Your two little front bottom teeth poked through! Teething hasn't been fun so we're glad your teeth are finally coming in. We've found that the best thing for teething is to fill your binkis with water and then freeze them. You love them this way.

My favorite thing to do with you is read books together. You seem to like it too. I feel like this is our special time together.

You are starting to sit up but still need pillows around you because you still fall over a lot.

We got you a little bouncer and you seem to really like it. We get a kick out of watching you jump in it.

You are sleeping like a champ! You have slept through the night for several nights in a row. You consistently go to sleep every night at 8:00. You still don't nap for very long - only two 1/2 hour naps each day.

You like eating solids but you're not a fan of meat (ground up chicken in chicken broth). You spit it out and make a face. You love fruit and veggies though.

You still love being outside. Sometimes dad will take you on a walk around the block if you're upset at night. I try to take you on a walk in your stroller after work a few times a week.

Everywhere I go, I get compliments about what a happy baby you are. It's true - you are all smiles almost all the time. You are only fussy if you are hungry or tired.

You have changed our lives forever. We're thankful for you everyday. I really love being your mom. We love you!
