September / October 2017

Dear Oliver,

Time is flying by. A few things to note lately:

September

You and Josh were playing in the backyard. I looked out the back door and saw you guys trying to pick up some cinder blocks and put them in a wheel barrow. You told Josh that if you guys showed your muscles, you would be able to do it. You both tightened your fists and clenched put them up by your faces, flexing your muscles. I wished I could take a picture with my eyes at that moment. It was pretty awesome.

October

  • Grandma Utah came for Halloween this year and went Trick-or-Treating with us. You were so excited to be a Ninja.
  • Dad and Josh went bowling for a "buddy night" with just them. You were sad, crying and missing them at bedtime. I sat on your bed and talk with you. "You have a sensitive heart, don't you Buddy?" I asked. "I mostly have a sensitive everything," you said.
  • You and Josh call hand sanitizer "hanitizer."
  • You LOVE ice. You eat it all the time.
  • You had some tests done on your heart recently. You went in for surgery on your penis (your urethra opening was abnormally small, so you weren't able to empty your bladder all the way when you would pee, and therefore you had to go very frequently, which was disruptive at school. The surgery was to open the urethra opening more.) Before administering anesthesia, the surgeon conducted a standard test on your heart. He heard irregular heart beats and a murmur, so they cancelled the surgery for that day and referred you to a Cardiologist. The Cardiologist (Dr. Ravi) gave you an echogram test and didn't have any concerns with that but also had you wear one for 24 hours at home. That one showed your resting heart rate was 39-40 in the middle of the night but Dr. Ravi said it's nothing to worry about, as long as it's normal when you're active. You also have a light heart murmur. He said to follow up in a year.
September 2017 (The babies are two months old.)
