Dear Oliver,
On March 2nd, you turned one year old. I can hardly believe it! Your actual birthday fell on a Wednesday but we celebrated on a Saturday. Here are a couple of pictures of the two of us on your birthday:
Grandma Louise came flew in from Utah just to celebrate with you. She couldn't wait until your birthday celebration to give you one of your presents so you opened it on your actual birthday night. She gave you some really fun bath toys and you love them.
We had a little party to celebrate you. We invited Tracy and her family (she takes care of you while I'm at work and you love her and her family, especially her daughters, Carly and Keren), Stephanie, Christine, and Courtney, who watch you while I go to school on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (you adore them - especially Stephanie and Christine, who have been watching you a lot lately), our friends the Wortons and their girls, our friends the Weeds and their girls, your aunt Britney, Uncle Ron, and cousin Connor (who came from Portland), your Uncle Tyson, and Grandma Louise.
We had pizza, salads, and carrot cake. You opened lots of fun presents, including a drum and guitar from Aunt Britney, maracas from Aunt Meagan, a new book about trucks and big-boy sippy cups from the Wortons, Cootie (for when you're older) from the Weeds, a toy camera and a musical keyboard from Tracy and her family, a quiet book and some clothes from Grandma Louise, a fire truck from Grandma Linda and Grandpa Fred, a fun Summer outfit from Aunt Lindsey, a book and coordinating stuffed animal from Stephanie and Christine, and other fun things that I can't remember right now. Needless to say, you got lots of presents from lots of people who love you (you're not really into the present thing yet but you had fun looking at the toys after I helped you open them). We brought out your cake and you picked up one of the icing carrots and put it in your mouth and then went back for more. This was your first taste of sugar and I think you are pretty fond of it. We put you in your high chair with a piece of cake in front of you and you went to town.

High five with Uncle Ty. |
Mom and Dad got you a fun slide and swing set castle. You seem to really like it.You don't quite understand going around the slide to the back to climb up the steps - instead you slide down and want to crawl up the slide part. You also don't understand that you need to sit down and put your feet out in front of you to slide. You want to dive right down - head first.
Our lives have changed so much this past year. Your dad and I were talking about how much love we feel for you - we are amazed that we can love you so much. You really do have such a sweet little spirit and so much love to share with others. Happy Birthday Little Friend.
Love, Mom
